ABOUT THE CONTEST

Now in its fifth year, the Art of Science Contest — hosted by UC San Diego Library’s Research Data Curation Program — continues to celebrate the beauty that can emerge from scientific exploration and the power of science communication. The contest sparks curiosity and highlights how research can help address some of society’s most pressing challenges.

Over the past four years, submissions have come from a wide range of disciplines, including the physical sciences, life sciences, environmental sciences, health and medical sciences, cognitive and behavioral sciences, engineering, the arts, and the social sciences.

By showcasing original works from undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, faculty, and project scientists, the contest reflects UC San Diego’s commitment to inclusivity and cultivating research skills at every stage of the academic journey. Together, these contributions form a vibrant portrait of the diverse scientific community at UC San Diego.
